Here are some thoughts I had at this wee hour.
One, that it’s important to accept yourself for who you are, to make it a value and principle to live by, because there are people who will accept you for who you are.
Two, it takes courage to be true to yourself. If you feel the need to change yourself in order to be loved or belong, what kind of message are you sending? “There’s something wrong with me”. Well, do you truly believe there’s something wrong with you? When I ask myself that question, the answer is no, I don’t truly believe there’s something wrong with me. If there’s anything wrong, it’s my mistaken belief that I’m not worthy of love, that I need to do, or be, someone other than who I am, someone ‘special’, in order for people to accept me. The truth is, I don’t have to do anything special to be loved.
Three, I can be me.
