Perhaps it’s human nature to be inspired by great things, to be swayed by visions of grandeur, and enthralled by soaring heights of the imagination.
I’ve spent my fair share of time (re)watching epic movies that no one else can see. The wonderful thing about imagination is that I can imagine people who are (for all I know, as real as The Gummi Bears) my friends, guides, and teachers, for example, Aristotle:
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
~ Good ol’ Ari
Imagination is having Eagle Vision (because sometimes I like to imagine I’m an eagle).
However, there are times when Mouse Vision is needed. Although my mind scans far and wide at distant horizons, my heart is often timid, afraid, and nervous as a mouse. So I focus on what’s in front of me, and do what I can with what I’ve got.
Perhaps it could be, as I diligently scurry about like a mouse in everyday life — all the while sailing to distant shores and mountain tops like an imagined eagle — that one day I’ll look up to find I’ve somehow made it there.
