I learned a new word today; euthymia. It means a normal non-depressed, reasonably positive mood. It is distinguished from hyperthymia, which refers to an extremely happy mood, and dysthymia, which refers to a depressed mood.
I discovered these terms while researching the Life Areas. The Life Area of Emotions consists of things like mood, feelings, and affect. It’s essentially our state of being.
I like the idea of being euthymic; neither high nor low. It feels like being aligned, balanced, and centered (the ABC’s). I can calmly observe emotions passing by like clouds.
